Dodger Notes Headed to the Break

Heading into the Break, the Dodgers trailed the Giants in the NL West by 2 games. That marks the first time since 2015 that the Dodgers had not been in first place heading into the All Star Break.

No worries though…..
In 2015 the Dodgers dominated the 2nd half of the season by going 11 games over. .500, and won the Division by 8 games.

2015 was the All Star Break where Joc Pederson was in the Homerun contest.
That event, in my opinion, was the beginning of his demise offensively.
He was the player of the year in the Minor Leagues in Albequerque, but fell in love with the long ball and has never hit very good after that Homerun contest.

Cody Bellinger is going through the exact same thing right now.
In 2019 Bellinger was on his way to becoming the league MVP at the Break and was having a historic season offensively.
Since that All Star Break in 2019, Bellinger is hitting just .235.
He badly needs to get his bearings back underneath him.
The league has figured out that he can’t hit anything up in the zone and he can’t keep from swinging at it.
