Last night was one of the craziest nights of the year down on the farm as we had ejections, the Drillers scored 3 touchdowns, the Loons rode the long ball and good pitching and the 2022 draft picks dominated in Rancho.
OKC Dodgers
OKC had 2 home runs on the night and should have had a 3rd, but a home run from Michael Busch in the 7th was overturned that led to multiple ejections. Ultimately, the AAA Dodgers dropped one of the most exciting games of the year 8-7 to the Salt Lake Bees, the AAA Affiliates of the Angels.
Michael Busch hit his 13th home run with OKC and 24th of the year and it came off the bat at 103 and traveled 408 very happy feet. Busch is hitting .277 with an OPS of .905 and has hits in 5 of his last 6 games. He hit .303 in July with an OPS of .884.
Tomas Telis doubled in 2 for OKC and is quietly having a very good year hitting .295.
Check this out! Michael Busch hit his 2nd home run of the night, Wait, no he didn’t, they changed the call! Then someone from the OKC dugout got ejected and Travis was having none of it! Then Busch struck out, then Travis got ejected! It’s baseball in the Dog Days of Summer!
The next hitter after all the ejections was Ryan Noda who settled the score with his 17th home run that was hit 104.8 & traveled 391. Noda had a double and home run tonight and 4 RBIs. Trust me, that was an “I got your back moment” from Noda! Baseball is Awesome! #dodgers
AA Tulsa Drillers
The Drillers had their biggest offensive night of the year scoring 23 runs on 21 hits, including 5 home runs to beat the Northwest Arkansas Naturals 23-7.
Justin Yurchak hit his 4th home run of the season and is 2nd on the team in Avg. after hitting .381 in July with an OPS of .988.
Johnny DeLuca had a triple and a home run last night for the Drillers. The home run was #25 on the year which is 2nd best in the Org. and 2nd best in all of AA.
The Drillers scored 7 in the top of the 5. Andy Pages had a double & a single in the inning. Brandon Lewis had a 2 RBI double, Leonel Valera tripled home 2, Carson Taylor singled home Valera, & Abiatal Avelino hit his 2nd homer of 2022. Here’s the whole thing!
High A Great Lakes
The Loons won an exciting game 5-4 over the Lake County Captains, the High A affiliates of the Cleveland Guardians.
Imanol Vargas had 2 hits tonight for the Loons including his 15th home run of 2022. He continues to lead the entire Midwest League in on-base % at .433.
Jose Ramos hit his 16th home run with Great Lakes, 22nd overall, and 2nd in as many nights. He also has hits in 5 of his last 6 games and 9 of his last 11.
Braydon Fisher put up another 0 for Great Lakes which is his 6th scoreless performance in a row. The League City native is having a great year with an ERA overall of just 2.68 and a WHIP of 1.24.
Jacob Cantleberry put up another 0 tonight for Great Lakes and that marks 6 out of 7 that he hasn’t given up a run. His ERA since the beginning of July is approaching 1.00.
Ben Harris continued his domination last night giving up no runs in his one inning. He had another strikeout and now has 86 K’s on the year in 43 innings. He also had an ERA of 0.75 in July and a WHIP of just 0.42.
Ryan Sublette got the win for the Loons to move to 5-1 on the year. He threw 2 scoreless innings and has now gone scoreless in 10 of his last 11, a period where he has 27 K’s in 14 innings. He had 4 K’s tonight!
Low A Rancho Cucamonga
The night was dominated by the 2022 draft as Dalton Rushing and Taylor Young each had big nights as Rancho Cucamonga had just enough offense to plate 4 runs and got great pitching from 4 different pitchers to beat Inland Empire, the Low A affiliates of the Angels, 4-1.
Dalton Rushing had 2 hits last night for Rancho, including his first home run in the Dodgers organization. Rushing is a catcher that was drafted in the 2nd round of this year’s draft out of Louisville. There is a lot of buzz around Rushing, & I’m excited to see him play!
Another 2022 Draft Pick, Taylor Young had a big impact on last night’s Quakes game as he had a double, 2 RBIs, and 2 stolen bases. Young is an infielder out of Lousiana Tech that had an on-base % of .506 as a Senior and hit .364 with an OPS of 1.250 for the Bulldogs.
Benony Robles had a great outing last night for the Quakes going 4.2 innings, giving up no runs, striking out 4, and walking just 1. Robles is a 21-year-old out of the DR who has been with the Dodgers since 2018 and has gone scoreless in 2 of his last 3 outings.
Joan Valdez continued his good work with a scoreless 1.2 innings for the Quakes and has his ERA down to 3.08 on the year. Last night was his 4th scoreless performance in a row and 7th out of his last 8 and during that period he has 18 K’s in 10.2 innings.
Madison Jeffrey recorded his 4th save of the year last night for the Quakes and has gone scoreless in 7 of his last 9 outings and has 11 k’s during those 9 innings of work.
