Last night was another great night in the Dodgers organization as both Tulsa and Great Lakes won on walk-offs, the 2022 draft class continued to shine in Rancho, and OKC’s game went down to the wire.
AAA OKC Dodgers
OKC pounded out 11 hits and took a 3-2 lead into the 7th, but 2 in the top of the 9th propelled Round Rock, the AAA affiliates of the Texas Rangers, to a 5-3 victory at Bricktown Ballpark in front of 3541 fans.
I wanted to start the OKC section by congratulating Ryan Pepiot for his promotion to LA. Pepiot got the start last night for LA, and here is every pitch of his 2nd inning. 4 seam was 93-95, the slider was 87, and the changeup was 85-86.
Ryan Noda went 3 for 3 Tuesday night, & got 2 hits last nght including his 19th home run that was hit 106.5 & traveled 431 very happy feet. He’s hitting .346 in August with an OPS of 1.092, & he has 3 home runs, 10 RBIs, and 22 total bases in the 8 games he’s played this month.
AA Tulsa Drillers
The Drillers scored in only 2 innings on the night, but that, and a walk-off home run was all they needed to take down Midland, the AA affiliates of the Oakland A’s, 4-2, at beautiful OneOk field in front of 4039 fans.
Great start for LHP out of #madtown Alec Gamboa. Gamboa went 7 innings, gave up 2, and struck out 3. The 7 innings was the longest outing of the year for Gamboa who left with no decision so his record stayed at 9-0.
Big congrats to Kenneth Betancourt for being promoted from Single-A Rancho Cucamonga all the way up to AA Tulsa. This is one of the most well-deserved promotions of the year! Congrats Kenneth!
Andy Pages is having an Andy Pages kind of month. He hit 2 more doubles last night and is hitting .308 in August with an OPS of 1.224. I said it yesterday, but when he heats up he can carry an offense.
RHP Jordan Leasure is a machine! Since May 29 he’s given up a grand total of 1 run. 1! During that period he has 30 strikeouts and no walks. I’m gonna give ya’ 3 guesses on how many runs he gave up last night and the first 2 don’t count!
High A Great Lakes
The Loons continue to be one of the most exciting teams in all of Professional baseball, and they also continue to find different ways to win close games. Last night, Great Lakes won on a walk-off bunt at Dow Diamond in front of 2745 fans.
Last night was about the buzz of Nick Frasso’s debut in the organization, and here is every pitch of his first inning as a Dodger. He was drafted by Toronto in the 4th Round and came to the Dodgers with Moises Brito in exchange for Mitch White and Alex DeJesus. Frasso hit 97 with the fastball and showed the changeup and slider.
Antonio Knowles was spot on again for the Loons giving up no runs and no hits in his 2 inning appearance. Knowles has gone scoreless in 3 of his last 4 outings and since the beginning of July, he has 20 strikeouts to just 3 walks.
Braydon Fisher had a good outing for the Loons going 1 scoreless recording a strikeout and no walks to record his 23rd scoreless outing of the year in 34 outings. The League City native is having a good year.
Well, the Loons can win games in extra innings, and guess how they did it? A Bunt! Actually, it was a walk-off bunt! Check it out for yourself!
Single A Rancho Cucamonga
The 2022 draft class continued to shine for Rancho as the Quakes pounded out 9 hits en route to a 9-7 victory over Lake Elsinore, the Single-A affiliates of the Padres.
The 2022 Draft class continues to impress, as Nick Biddison hit his first home run with the Quakes. Biddison is a 2022 4th-round utility player who hit .351 last year at Virginia Tech with 14 home runs and 47 RBIs.
More 2022 Draft class, this time Kyle Nevin with 2 hits so far tonight for the Quakes. Nevin was drafted in the 11th round of this year’s draft out of Baylor. Enjoy the look at the Rookies!
Another 2022 Draft Pick, Sean McLain had 2 hits last night as well. McLain was a 5th-round draft pick out of Arizona State.
Here’s a good look at Carlos De Los Santos who went 2 scoreless tonight for the Quakes. De Los Santos is a 21-year-old out of the DR who is pitching well this month with an ERA of 2.45 in August.
RHP, Reinaldo De Paula, threw 2 scoreless innings last night for Rancho and has his ERA down to 3.47. He has not allowed an earned run in August, spanning 4 outings, and has 7 k’s during that time to only 2 walks, a WHIP of just 0.67, and an average against of just .105.
Here’s a good look at the 2022 draft pick, Sean McLain playing some defense from his shortstop position.
Check out the backfoot slider from LHP Christian Suarez. Suarez is a 21-year-old that has explosive stuff as evidenced by the fact that he has 63 K’s in his 45 innings. The 3rd baseman that makes the last out is 4th rounder, Nick Biddison, so you get a 2 for 1.
