Dodgers Daily Thursday 8-18-22

Diego Cartaya and Jason Martin homered, Michael Grove got in the groove, Tulsa had a heartbreaking loss, and Rancho Cucamonga keeps piling up the runs. There was a lot of great action last night down on the farm and we’ve got it covered.

AAA OKC Dodgers

OKC scored 2 in the top of the 9th on a Jason Martin home run, then held on and beat the Sugarland Space Cowboys, the AAA affiliates of the Astros, 2-1.

Marshall Kasowski threw another 0 last night which is his 5th in a row and 10th out of his last 11. His ERA is approaching 2.00, & his average against is just .179 for the year. His 4 seam was 89-93, and he threw it all but 1 pitch, the other being a curveball at 69 mph.

Watch Grove in action

Michael Grove had a great outing tonight for OKC and has his average against this month down to .167, his WHIP at 0.81, and his ERA at 3.12. Grove threw his typical slider, 4 seam, & curveball mix, & hit 96 with the 4 seam, 85 on the slider, & 83 on the curve ball.

Watch Graterol hit 99

Here is every pitch of Brusdar Graterol’s 1-2-3 inning in the 7th for OKC. He threw 9 sinkers that sat 99-100, and he threw 3 sliders, the first of which was 93 mph. Explosive Stuff!

Watch Martin hit home run #26

Jason Martin hit home run #26 for OKC which ties him w/ Michael Busch for 2nd most in the org. behind Ryan Ward & Mookie Betts who each have 27. Beyond the home runs, Martin is hitting .288 with an OPS of .960. The homer was hit 99.8 mph and traveled 363 very happy feet.

 

Watch Hembree in Action

Heath Hembree had a scoreless outing for OKC to stabilize the late innings in advance of the comeback in the 9th. Hembree threw six 4 seam fastballs that sat 94-95 and threw 2 sliders at 83 and 84.

Daniel Zamora picked up his 3rd save of the year by blanking the Space Cowboys after OKC has scored 2 in the top of 9 to take the lead. Zamora had a 4 seam/slider combo with the 4 seam sitting 87-88.

AA Tulsa Drillers

The Drillers pounded out 10 hits to take last night’s game into extra innings, only to lose on a walk-off home run in the bottom of the 10th.

Another good outing for RHP Kyle Hurt who went 3.2 innings, struck out 6, and gave up just 1 run. In his last 2 outings, the SoCal native has struck out 15 in 7.2 innings. His stuff is big and explosive!

Watch Alcantara get 2 hits

Ismael Alcantara had 2 hits and an RBI last night for the Drillers and is hitting .300 with an OPS of 1.117 since being promoted.

Watch Avelino get 3 hits

Abiatal Avelino had 3 hits and 2 RBIs last night for Tulsa. He’s having his best month of the year hitting .250 with an OPS over .800 in August.

High A Great Lakes

The Loons only scored in 2 innings last night and couldn’t muster enough offense in the Michigan State Capitol and lost 6-3 to the Lansing Lugnuts.

Watch Peto Deal

Another good outing for Robbie Peto, especially considering all of the external factors he had to fight through that were out of his control. Peto started tonight and went 4.0, struck out 3, and gave up just 1 run. This one took some grit and composure so well done!

Watch Cartaya hit home run #21

Diego Cartaya hit his 21st home run and 5th of this month and he hit it oppo! Cartaya is hitting .269 on the year with an OPS of .945.

Watch Casparius Deal

Great outing for Ben Casparius who has some of the best stuff on anyone in the org. His stuff is really, really good.  Casparius threw 2.1 scoreless innings and struck out 3 and walked just 1. Well done Ben, keep up the good work!

Watch Ramos get 2 hits

Jose Ramos had 2 hits for the Loons including his 3rd Triple of the year which is 2nd on the team. Ramos also leads the Loons in RBIs (62) is 2nd on the team in Slug % .516, and is 3rd on the team in OPS .833.

Julian Smith threw his 2nd consecutive scoreless performance and 3rd out of his last 4 outings. The slider was on point!

Single A Rancho Cucamonga

The Quakes were very efficient and scored 9 runs on 9 hits to beat the Modesto Nuts 9-6 at Loan Mart Field in front of 1049 fans.

Yeiner Fernandez had another big night last night going 2 for 2 to extend his hit streak to 7 games. He’s hitting .342 this month with an OPS of 1.010.

Watch Rushing Mash

Dalton Rushing hit his 3rd home run since joining the club on August 6th. Rushing has hits in 5 games in a row, has 4 multi-hit games since becoming a Quake, and is hitting .405 with an OPS of 1.288 at Rancho.

Taylor Young had 2 hits for the Quakes, an RBI, scored a run, and had 2 total bases last night. Young has multi-hit games in 3 of the last 5 he has played in and has an on-base % of .404 since joining the Quakes on August 4th.

Watch Vogel knock in 2 RBIs

Jake Vogel had a hit and 2 RBIs last night and has multiple RBIs in a game in 3 of the last 5 he has played in. He has hits in 4 of his last 5 games.

Watch Bautista Deal

Kelvin Bautista had a really good outing last night recording strikeouts for all 3 outs he got in his 1 inning. His average against this month is just .185 and he has gone scoreless in 6 of his last 8 outings.
