Nastrini was bigtime in his AA Debut, Keith had a huge night, Acosta stayed perfect, and Rushing continued to wear out Single-A pitching. There was a lot of great action last night Down on the Farm and we’ve got it covered.

AAA OKC Dodgers

The OKC game was postponed due to weather and will be made up as part of a doubleheader today in Sugar Land starting at 5:05 Central. All doubleheaders in the Minor Leagues are 7 innings.

AA Tulsa Drillers

The Drillers got a great start from Nick Nastrini in his AA debut and also pounded out 10 hits and 7 runs to beat the Wichita Wind Surge, the AA Affiliates of the Twins, 7-3 Thursday Night at Riverfront Stadium.

Nick Nastrini made quite a splash in his first outing for AA Tulsa. Nastrini went 6.2 innings, struck out 8, walked just 2, and gave up just 1 hit and 1 run. Nastrini’s ERA in his 2 outings this month is 2.25, his average against is just .146 and his WHIP is 0.83.

Andy Pages hit home run #22 and it was a bomb. I have been to Riverfront in Wichita many times and have entered the left field entrance and walked that concourse and that is a long way. Pages has a slugging % of .604 this month and an OPS of .969.

Ismael Alcantara has home runs in back-to-back games and has 3 total since joining Tulsa. Alcantara is hitting .292 with a slugging % of .750 since his promotion to AA. Last night’s homer was hit 103 off the bat and traveled 416 very happy feet.

Jose Hernandez threw 1.1 scoreless innings for the Drillers and struck out 3 of the 4 outs he recorded. Hernandez has an ERA this month of just 1.29 in 7 outings, an average against of just .087, and a WHIP of 0.86 so far in August.

Abiatal Avelino hit home run #5 of the year and he also has home runs in back-to-back games. It was hit 97 off the bat and traveled 416 very happy feet.

High A Great Lakes

The Loons clubbed 15 hits and rode a huge night from Damon Keith to beat the Lansing Lugnuts, the High A affiliates of the A’s, 12-3 in the Michigan State Capitol.

Damon Keith had 2 home runs, a triple, 2 RBIs, 3 Runs Scored, and 11 total bases…All last night! Keith is one of the best young hitters in the org. out of Cal Baptist.

Eddys Leonard had 2 hits and 3 RBIs for the Loons and now has 3 multi-hit games this month, and has hits in all but 3 games as well in August.

Jorbit Vivas had 2 hits, an RBI, and scored a run in the Loon’s big win over the Lugnuts. Last night was his 7th multi-hit game of the month.

Austin Gauthier had 2 hits and was on base 3 times. Gauthier has an on-base percentage of .459, an average of .283, and an OPS of .884. I love watching him use the big part of the field.

Aldrich DeJongh had 2 hits including his 8th home run in the Loon’s win. DeJongh also scored 3 runs and had 5 total bases.

Single A Rancho Cucamonga

Dalton Rushing and Taylor Young each had big nights for the Quakes, but it wasn’t enough as Rancho lost 11-6 to the Modesto Nuts, the Single-A affiliates of the Mariners, 11-6 at Loan Mart Field in front of 1519 fans.

Kyle Froemke extended his hit streak to 5 games and has hits in 7 of his last 8 games. He is hitting .360 in his 7 games in August with an OPS of .967. He has made quite a splash with Rancho!

Dalton Rushing had 4 hits and 2 home runs last night for the Quakes. He is hitting .452 with an OPS of 1.460 since joining the club on August 4th. Last night was his 5th multi-hit game and he has hits in 6 games in a row and 9 of his last 11.

Shortstop Taylor Young had a big game for Rancho going 2-3 and getting on base 3 times. That marks his 2nd multi-hit game in a row and 4th out of his last 6th, a stretch where he is hitting .363 with 5 RBIs, 7 runs scored, and 8 total bases.
