Dodgers Daily: Sunday 8-28-22

OKC held on, Tulsa and Great Lakes got blanked, and Doncon made it Rayne in Visalia. There was a lot of great action last night Down on the Farm and we’ve got it covered.

OKC jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead, but the trend lately has been to give up runs in the late innings, and last night was no different. The Dodgers gave up 3 runs in the top of the 9th inning but were still able to hold on and beat the El Paso Chihuahuas, the AAA affiliates of the Padres, 9-8 in downtown OKC in front of 8760 fans at the Bricktown Ballpark.

The Ballpark was packed again!

Kudos to OKC and all of the people that work relentlessly to connect with the Community because it was another great crowd last night amongst many this Summer at the Bricktown Ballpark, one of the greatest places on earth.

Here’s a good look at the 1st inning of Ryan Pepiot. Pepiot was 95 on his 4 seam, 85 on his changeup, and 83 on his breaking ball.

Devin Mann extended his hit streak to 4 games with his 20th double of the season which was a 2 out, 2 RBI double for OKC. Mann also has hits in 7 of his last 8 games and 10 of his last 12. Click on his picture to watch the entire at-bat.

Watch Outman Hit his 24th double

After hitting for the cycle Friday James Outman was back at it again hitting his 24th and 25th doubles of 2022. Outman is 9 for his last 16 with a home run, 3 triples, 5 doubles, 12 RBIs, 4 runs scored, and 23 total bases. Wow!

Watch Noda Drive in a run

Ryan Noda had an RBI Basehit which was his 76th RBI of the season, and 21st of this month in 22 games. His on-base % this month is .464 and his OPS is .992. The dude fills up the stat sheet!

Watch Treinen in action

Click on his picture to watch Blake Treinen with OKC in his performance last night. He threw 5 cutters that were 91-93, 2 sliders that were 84-86, and 5 sinkers that were 96-97. He hit 97.9 with his sinker!

Click on his picture to watch Tommy Kahnle in his performance with OKC. He threw 8 4 seam fastballs that sat 96-97, and 15 change-ups that sat 89-91.

Catcher Hunter Feduccia had 2 hits and a big RBI for OKC and he also scored twice in the big win for the Dodgers. Click on his picture to watch his first hit.

Watch Vargas hit home run #16

Miguel Vargas went big fly for OKC for his 16th home run of the year. Vargas is hitting .301 on the year and has a 12 game hit streak where he is 17 for 41 (.414) during that stretch.

AA Tulsa Drillers

Tulsa got one of Landon Knack’s best starts of the year last night but could only muster 5 hits and no runs, and got beat 2-0 by the Arkansas Travelers, the AA affiliates of the Mariners.

Watch Knack in Action

Landon Knack was on point for Tulsa and had just about everything working in his arsenal. Knack went 4, struck out 3, and walked just 1. Watch the bottom drop out of the last pitch. Knack was kind enough to give a quote on last nights performance and here’s what he had to say.

After working hard to get healthy and get back out there, it felt good to feel things getting locked back in and back on track last night.

Watch Hoese get 2 hits

Kody Hoese had 2 hits for the Drillers and is hitting .250 in the year for Tulsa.

High A Great Lakes

Last night was simply one of those nights throughout the marathon of a baseball season that you throw in the trash can and just move on. The Loons only had 1 hit and lost to the Fort Wayne Tin Caps, the High A affiliates of the Padres, 8-0 Saturday Night at Dow Diamond in front of 5240 fans.

Watch Diaz get the only hit for the Loons

Luis Diaz had the only hit for the Loons in their game with the Fort Wayne Tin Caps. Diaz has hits in 7 of his last 8 games and has 2 home runs, 2 doubles, 5 RBIs, 7 runs scored, and 17 total bases during that stretch.

Watch Smith go scoreless

The highlight of the night on the pitching front was Julian Smith. Smith threw a scoreless inning for Great Lakes which marks his 5th scoreless performance in a row and 6th of his last 7. During his 5 games scoreless streak, he has 7 strikeouts.

Single A Rancho Cucamonga

Rancho Cucamonga has quickly turned into one of the most fun teams in all of the Minor Leagues to watch. They have great young pitching and the infusion of the 2022 Draft Picks has made their position player core very exciting to watch and follow. The Quakes pounded out 14 more hits last night in a beat down of the Visalia Rawhide, the Single-A affiliates of the Diamondbacks, 12-4 in Visalia Saturday night.

Watch 2022 Draft Pick Chris Campos

Chris Campos had a successful 2-inning start for Rancho. Campos is a 22-year-old 2022 draft pick and was drafted out of Saint Marys which marks the 2nd year in a row the Dodgers have drafted a pitcher out of that program.

Watch Young Set the Tone!

Taylor Young hit the first pitch of the game off the left-center field wall for a double. Something tells me he set the tone like this a lot at Louisiana Tech. Young has hits in 4 in a row & is 5 for his last 17.

Watch Doncon make it Rayne

Rayne Doncon’s first hit with the Quakes was an absolute blast. Check it out in the video below. Doncon is an 18-year-old that is in his 2nd year in the system and just got called up to Rancho from the complex on Thursday.

Watch Rushing get 2 more hits

I’m gonna have to buy more Google Drive space trying to cover all the highlights of Dalton Rushing. He had 2 more hits last night and is hitting .418 with an OPS of 1.346 since joining Rancho. Something of note, he was at 1st base tonight.

Watch Lockwood Powell in Action

Griffin Lockwood Powell turned in his 2nd 2 hit game in a row and has raised his average by 53 points in the last 2 games.

Watch Vogel get 2 hits and a pair of RBIs

Jake Vogel had two hits and a pair of RBIs for the Quakes in their 12-4 win over the Visalia Rawhide. Vogel has 13 RBIs and 24 total bases this month.

Watch Rodriguez hit 2 doubles

Luis Rodriguez had 2 doubles for the Quakes and they both delivered 2 RBIs. Rodriguez had 5 RBIs on the night and has 15 this month and 65 on the year. He is 6 for his last 14 with 3 doubles, 7 RBIs, 2 runs scored, and 9 total bases.

Watch Jeffrey throw back to back to back sliders

Madison Jeffrey threw back to back to back sliders to start his outing last night with a strikeout. He had 2 K’s in his 3 outs he recorded and has 10 K’s in his 8 innings of work this month and has gone scoreless in back-to-back outings.
