Dodgers Daily: 9-3-22

OKC lost on another walk-off, Brandon Lewis went bonkers for the Drillers, The Loons outpitched the Captains and the Quakes were back to mashing. There was a lot of great action down on the farm and we’ve got it covered.

AAA OKC Dodgers

OKC tied the game up in the 9th, but lost on a walk-off home run to lose 3-2 to the Round Rock Express, the AAA affiliates of the Rangers.

OKC got a great outing from Mark Washington as he threw 2 scoreless innings. Washington has had 11 K’s in his 8 outings since August. He has really good stuff!

Here is every pitch of Victor Gonzalez’s scoreless 1 inning outing for OKC. He threw 14 sinkers that sat 94-95, 5 sliders that sat 86, and 2 changeups at 86.

Watch Busch hit home run #28

Michael Busch tied the OKC game in the 9th inning with his 28th home run of the year. It was hit 106.5 off the bat and traveled 361 very happy feet.

AA Tulsa Drillers

Tulsa lost the 1st game of their Doubleheader, then opened up a 44-ounce can in the 2nd game and split their 2 games with the NW Arkansas Naturals, the AA affiliates of the Royals at beautiful OneOk field in front of 6072fans.

Have a day BLeww! Holy Smokes! Brandon Lewis went 5 for 7 in the doubleheader for the Drillers and had 7 RBIs combined, 3 home runs, and 14 total bases. Wow, what a game! Lewis was kind enough to provide a quote for Dodger Poke about his great day and here’s what he had to say:

It’s always a great feeling when you can contribute like that in a win. With how long the season is you have to know that there will be ups and downs. We haven’t been playing to our standards these last couple weeks, but everyone in the clubhouse knows what we’re capable of as a team. We’re all looking forward to finishing strong and making a playoff run!

Watch Knack in Action

Landon Knack was landing just about everything in the first game for Tulsa. Knack threw 3 scoreless innings and struck out 6. This is as good as Knack has looked all year IMO, and in his last 2 outings he has 9 K’s in 7 innings and has given up just 4 hits.

Watch Valera have a huge day

Leonel Valera had a huge day for the Drillers. He went 4 for 7 with a triple, home run #15, 4 RBIs, and 9 total bases.

Watch Gamboa in Action

Alec Gamboa brought his paintbrush with him tonight and carved up the Naturals to the tune of 3 strikeouts, just 1 walk, and no runs. Well done Alec, time to finish the year strong!

Watch Varland in Action

Gus Varland had another scoreless outing for the Drillers which is his 3rd scoreless outing in a row and 7th in his last 8 outings. Since the beginning of July, Varland has had 32 strikeouts to just 6 walks. This guy has put it together and is pitching lights out!

High A Great Lakes

The High A Great Lakes Loons won the most exciting game of the day as Eddys Leonard hit a home run, which turned out to be the only run of the game and the Loons won 1-0 Friday evening at Dow Diamond in front of 3651 fans.

River Ryan had a short but good outing during a team of year where the club is protecting young arms. He went 2 innings and struck out 4. Since joining Great Lakes his ERA is 1.00, his WHIP is 0.89 and he has 15 K’s in 9 innings pitched.

Watch Casparius Deal

Great outing for Ben Casparius who went 4 innings and gave up no runs, on 3 hits, struck out 5 and walked 2. When Casparius is on he has some of the best stuff of any pitcher in the system.

Eddys Leonard hit home run #15 of the year and is hitting .267 on the year with an OPS Of .781.

It sure is great to see Michael Hobbs back on the mound for the Loons. He was out from June 21 til August 30, & is right back to his great work. In fact, since he’s returned, he hasn’t given up a run in his 2 outings that spans 2.2 innings. His ERA is 3.33 for the year.

Watch Sublette in Action

The Loons won 1-0 last night! Ryan Sublette was feeling the excitement as he closed the 9th against the Captains to get the much-needed win. Sublette hasn’t given up a run in his last 5 outings, 10 of his last 11, and 16 of his last 18. That’s Dominant!

Single A Rancho Cucamonga

Rancho scored twice in the 8th and 4 times in the 9th to take down Inland Empire, the Single-A affiliates of the Angels  8-5 Friday Evening.

Watch Young hit home run #2

LA Tech favorite, Taylor Young, has 2 hits last night including his 2nd professional home run. Young has also scored 2 runs and has 5 total bases on the night. He has a hit streak of 8 games and an on-base streak of 19 games.

Watch Rushing hit home run #7

Dalton Rushing hit his 7th home run since joining Rancho on August 1st. He also had 3 RBIs in the game which puts him at 25 so far with the Quakes. He’s hitting .438 and with an OPS of 1.285.

Benony Robles had a great outing for Rancho going 4.2 innings and giving up just 1 run and striking out 3. Here is a good look at the 21-year-old out of the DR.
