OKC went dry, Tulsa set a franchise record in home runs, the Loons got sunk and the Quakes finished the night off right with. There was a lot of great action on the farm and we’ve got it covered.
AAA OKC Dodgers
Jacob Amaya continued his hot streak with 2 hits last night for OKC. Amaya is hitting .412 so far in September with an OPS of .950.
Drew Avans also had a good night for OKC with 2 hits of his own, using his speed to beat the Tacoma defense. Avans is having a very good year hitting .280 with an OPS of .803 on the season.
Aaron Ochsenbein had a good outing for OKC going 2 innings and giving up no runs, no hits and recording 2 strikeouts. Ochsenbein has gone scoreless in 5 of his last 6 outings and has given up just 2 hits in his last 5.3 innings. His average against in August was .125, and it is just .083 so far in September.
Mark Washington threw a scoreless 2 innings for OKC and had 2 strikeouts, no walks, and gave up no hits. Washington has 3 scoreless outings in a row and has an average against this month of just .083, a WHIP OF 0.25 AND AND era OF 0.00.
Welcome to AAA to Nick Robertson. Robertson got called up yesterday and got his first action by closing out the 9th inning last night in scoreless action.
AA Tulsa Drillers
Tulsa scored 2 in the top of the first and never looked back as they outscored the Frisco Rough Riders 11-7.
Alec Gamboa got the win on the mound for the Drillers going 3.1 strong innings and giving up just 1 run on no hits. Gamboa is finishing strong with an ERA this month of just 1.69.
Justin Yurchak had another big day for Tulsa collecting his 9th multi hit game since the beginning of August. Yurchak hit .381 in July, .326 in August, and is hitting .389 so far in September.
Brandon Lewis also had another big day for Tulsa collecting 2 hits to move his avg. to .400 this month and his OPS to 1.329.
Abiatal Avelino had a huge day for Tulsa collecting 3 hits and 4 RBIs. Avelino is 5 for his last 13 with 2 doubles, 5 RBIs, 4 runs scored and 7 total bases.
High A Great Lakes
Great Lakes spread out 6 hits and didn’t score in their 3-0 loss to the West Michigan Whitecaps.
Austin Gauthier followed the momentum of his walkoff homerun on Sunday and got 2 hits yesterday. He has hits in all 3 games this month and is hitting .444 so far in September with an OPS of 1.289.
Yunior Garcia was maybe the hottest hitter in baseball when he was promoted to Great Lakes, and he is starting to get hot with the Loons. He had 2 hits last night for the Loons and is 3 for his last 4.
Antonio Knowles finished the night pitching for the Loons throwing a scoreless inning striking out 1 and giving up no hits. Knowles has an average against this month of just .200, after it was just .217 in August, .207 in July. His slider is a ++ pitch.
Michael Hobbs had his 3rd performance since returning for Great Lakes and they have both been good. The former 10th Rounder out of St. Mary’s blanked the White Caps in his 1 inning last night and hasn’t given up a run in his 3 outings since returning and has given up just 1 hit.
Single A Rancho Cucamonga
Rancho pounded out 13 hits and 10 runs Wednesday evening and beat Lake Elsinore 10-6.
Alex Freeland hit a 414 foot home run in the bottom of the 3rd to give Rancho a 5-2 lead. Freeland is off to a great start with Rancho hitting .313 with an OPS of 1.109.
Nick Biddison had his 1st multi homerun game as a professional, the first gave the Quakes an 8-5 lead. Biddison is hitting .295 so far with the Quakes with an OPS of .885.
Bubba Alleyne went back to back with Biddison for his 3rd home run since joining the Quakes, and he also has 3 mult-hit games this month. .
