LA scored one in the 10 then Tommy Kahnle slammed the door with his elite changeup to give the Dodgers a 1-0 win. OKC finished the season on a high note beating Salt Lake behind a good start from Jon Duplantier, a home run from Michael Busch, and another big game from James Outman. There’s been a lot of great action this week and we’ve got it covered.

LA Dodgers
The Dodgers scored 1 in the top of the 10th then slammed the door in the bottom of the 10th as Tommy Kahnle used his changeup to shut the Padres down. The Dodgers won their 107th game which sets a single-season franchise record.
Julio Urias gave the Dodgers another great start going 6 & giving up no runs & striking out 5. Urias’s ERA is 2.17 which is 3rd best in the MLB, his WHIP is just 0.96, which is 6th best in the league, and his avg. against is just .199 which is 5th best in the MLB.
Mookie Betts had a hit and scored the only run in the game last night in LA’s 1-0 win over San Diego. Betts is hitting .269 on the year with an OPS of .877 and has driven in 81 runs and scored 133 in 136 games played.
Evan Phillips threw a scoreless inning which is his 9th scoreless outing in a row & 24th out of his last 25. His ERA is down to 1.18, his WHIP is down to 0.74, his avg. against is just .147, & he’s allowed just 1 run in his last 25 outings. Wow! This dude has been elite!
The Phillips/Vesia back-to-back combo is legit. Vesia went scoreless again for the 24th time out of his last 25 outings. His ERA is 0.63 in his last 15 games and just 1.29 in his last 30 outings. His avg. against for the year is .188 and his WHIP is just 1.14.
Yency Almonte was impressive in his scoreless inning which is his 13th scoreless outing in a row for LA. Watch the 2-seam take a right turn & the slider take a left turn. That combo has been a game changer for him and is why he can get both righties and lefties out.
Tommy Kahnle’s change-up is legit, and it is extremely effective in high-leverage situations when hitters have extra adrenaline. See for yourself in the video below! Kahnle slammed the door to give the Dodgers their 107th win which is a single-season franchise record.
AAA OKC
OKC finished the year on a good note beating the Salt Lake Bees, the AAA affiliates of the Angels yesterday at the Bricktown Ballpark, 3-2.
I wanted the start the section on OKC by giving congrats to Gavin Stone for his incredible 2022 season, including being awarded the Minor League Pitcher of the Year. Stone recorded an ERA of just 1.48 for the YEAR, a WHIP of just 1.12 & a K:BB ratio of almost 4 to 1. This dude has all of the IT’s and a lot of talent.
Tony Gonsolin threw 2 scoreless innings for AAA OKC on Tuesday night. Gonsolin led the MLB in ERA, WHIP, and Avg. against when he went on the IL, so he would be a huge piece to plug back in.
Jon Duplantier finished the AAA season nicely by giving up just 1 run yesterday in 4 innings while recording 8 Ks. Duplantier finished with an avg. against this month of .190, and had 24 Ks in 21 innings in September.
Here’s a great message from Kevin Pillar on the right way to play the game. Pillar is a long-time MLB veteran that was playing well with LA before he got injured & has made it back on the field to finish 2022. Excited to announce the full feature is coming up in the near future.
Michael Busch hit home run #32 in the last game for OKC yesterday. Matt Davidson & Jason Martin lead the league with 32, but not all of Busch’s came in AAA. Busch also finished 3rd in the PCL in doubles (32 in AAA) and (38 overall).
James Outman had 3 hits in the finale yesterday for OKC. Combined between Tulsa and OKC, Outman finished hitting .294 with 31 home runs, 106 RBIs, and an OPS of .978 on the year. He finished 6 for his last 13 with 2 home runs, 2 doubles, and 4 RBIs during that stretch.
Aaron Ochsenebein had a good finish to 2022 going scoreless today in his 1 inning, and recording a 2.84 ERA in September. Ochsenbein started the season going scoreless in 11 of 12 outings and finished the season going scoreless in his last 4
Nick Robertson posted a 2.31 ERA since his promotion to AAA. His average against during his time with OKC was .222 and his WHIP was 1.11. Today was his 3rd scoreless outing in a row, so he finished strong.
