LA Dodgers
The Dodgers got in a quick 2-0 hole, but thanks to 3 RBIs from Miguel Vargas, one from Freddie Freeman, and another great performance from the bullpen, the Dodgers beat the Padres again last night 5-2. The Dodgers won every series this year against the Padres, so that’s always a good thing.

Miguel Vargas put the Dodgers in the lead with a 2 strike, 2 out, 2 RBI base hit. Vargas has hits in 3 games in a row and has 5 RBIs in his last 2 games played.
Craig Kimbrel had a clean inning in his attempt to repurpose himself for a role other than closer., Kimbrel touched 97 on his 4-seam and paired that with his 84-85 mph knuckle curve.
Will Smith hit home run #24 and it was hit 99.2 and traveled 360 very happy feet. Smith is hitting .310 in his last 7 games with an OPS of .862. He’s hitting .293 with an OPS of .873 in his last 15 games. He has 9 extra-base hits and 10 RBIs this month.
Caleb Ferguson was feeling the velo as he hit 97 twice in striking out Juan Soto. Ferguson has an ERA of just 1.91, a WHIP of just 1.09, and an average against of just .181. Ferguson has gone scoreless in 9 of his last 10 outings, and 32 of his 36 outings on the year.
In case anyone wanted to watch Manny Machado strike out again, here you go! Chris Martin has gone scoreless in his last 11 outings, 17 of his last 18, and 21 of his last 23. He has 16 strikeouts this month to just 1 walk! That’s crazy good!
Alex Vesia slammed the door on a Padres rally and kept Chris Martin scoreless. Vesia has gone scoreless in 4 in a row and 25 of his last 26 outings. His avg. against this month is .097, it was .108 last month and .186 in July. The dude has been incredible!
Down go the Padres as David Price picked up his 2nd save of the season and slammed the door on San Diego’s chances of winning a series against the Dodgers this year in the regular season.

Great website, great writing.
I know most outlets have Bobby Miller, and Pepiot ranked higher but I’ve been impressed with Michael Grove’s curve, pitches per PA, and Gavin Stone’s minor league numbers. I hope we get to see all 4 at the ML level next year.
Do you think one or both of Avans and Noda will get protected on the 40 man? Dodgers are looking at a big roster crunch this offseason.
