AAA OKC
Andy Pages had a Home Run and a double for AAA OKC in the 1st game of their Double Header yesterday. Pages is hitting .295, OPS .898. Unique ability to pull the ball & hit fly balls, while not striking out at really high rates.
Trey Sweeney had 2 hits in the 1st game for OKC yesterday, to move his average to .333. One of my favorite swing planes, barrel stays in the zone for maximum length. Don’t be surprised at continued success for this dude, he can really hit, good athlete, versatile.
Jesse Hahn made his 4th appearance yesterday for AAA OKC, going scoreless in 2 innings. 34 year old with lots of Major League experience, signed as a Free Agent in the off season to a Minor League contract. These are the types of guys the Dodgers LOVE to use as depth.
Miguel Vargas is an interesting hitter, because, when he’s going good, he pulls pitches on the outer half a lot, and then inside outs balls on the inner half. And, he’s done both of those things in the last couple of games, so things are headed North.
Very good start for Eduardo Salazar. Touched 96.7 with his Sinker, sat 94.4 & paired that with a slider, 4 Seam & a slider that had 54 inches of vertical break, 42% Whiff rate. 5.2 IP 6 H 2 R 2 Ks 1 BB ERA is now 2.87 in 2 starts.
Gus Varland SAT 96, touched 97.4, & didn’t throw a FB lower than 95.3. Slider had 42 inches on vertical drop & landed 64% of the time. Impressive Stuff! 1.1 IP 1 H O R 2 Ks 0 BB
Good Inning from UK native, Michael Petersen for AAA OKC. 4 seam, sinker, cutter moved the ball enough to miss barrels. 1 IP 0 R 0 H 0 K 0 BB That’s called pitchin’ to contact!
Love the closer role for Ricky Vanasco! Vanasco picked up his 3rd save striking out 2 in the 9th. He’s given up just 1 run in is 4 outings, 6 Ks in 3 innings, albeit with 4 walks in that span. Electric stuff though, approaching 100 MPH with a BIG hook.
Kody Hoese had 2 more hits tonight, which is his 3rd multi hit game already. He’s hitting .360 so far & has hits in 6 of the 7 games he’s played in. So, he’s been good, and he’s been consistent. Atta Baby Kody!
AA Tulsa
Great outing for Justin Wrobleski! 5 IP 5 H 1 ER 6 Ks 0 Walks Showcased 6 pitches, had command of his entire arsenal & sat 96-97. 2nd start & in 10 Innings has given up just 2 ERs, 12 Ks, just 1 Walk,
Austin Beck was a 1st Rd. Draft Pick in 2017 for a reason, he can hit. He hit a Grand Slam last night, and it was oppo and looked effortless. Followed that with a solid hit to Right Center to move his Avg. to .444, OPS 1.722.
Brendon Davis had a good night for AA Tulsa, getting 2 hits & 4 RBIs. Very long, very athletic, lots of talent, signed a Minor League contract with the Dodgers in the off season.
TY had 2 hits last night for AA Tulsa, including his 2nd HR of the season. Taylor Young has always been a great hitter, but made some adjustments in the off season to try an do MORE damage. The results…2 HRs so far, and, of course, he’s just gettin’ started.
Bubba Alleyne wasted no time attacking last night. Had 2 hits left handed and one from the right side. Super excited to see him play at One Ok, because there’s a lot of things he can do on a baseball field. 2022 B1G Player of the Year.
Great to see Jack Little on the mound after missing 2022 & not ramping up for good until the middle of July last year, due to recovering from Tommy John. 2019 5th Round Draft Pick out of Stanford that has great “run” to miss barrels, good carry, and a really nice change.
Ryan Sublette is another “under the radar” reliever that is unique, and is very, very good. Side slot, but stays behind the ball, and always has him emotions under control, but, at the same time, insanely competitive. Put his name in your Rolodex!
Dodgers fans, get used to seeing this, Dalton Rushing went yard for the 2nd night in a row. This one was to dead center. The thing about this Home Run, is how it kept carrying, which shows his strength, and just how hard he hits the ball. Atta Baby Dalton, Keep Crushin’!
Lift Off for Lewis! Brandon Lewis went DEEP for the 1st time. Lewis led the entire organization in Home Runs per at bat in 2021, so he has big power, soft hands, good feet on the corners, and stays inside the ball. Potential to be a really good hitter that hits HRs.
Michael Flynn was the Fireman! Came in with the bases loaded an no one out & worked out of the jam. Flynn was a 6th Rd. pick of the Pirates in 2018 & signed an FA contract in the off season. 2.0 IP 1 H 0 R 2 Ks 0 BB Well Done Michael!
Austin Gauthier had 2 hits for AA Tulsa, including an RBI base hit & he was on base 3 times. And, he played a really easy & smooth short stop as well. 1st multi hit game of the year, won’t be his last, he had 40 of them last year. 40! He had 11-3 hit games!
Single A Rancho Cucamonga
Check out the Slider from Patrick Copen! 3 IP 4 H 1 R 4 Ks 1 BB Gained about 15 pounds of muscle in the off season, FB is 94-97, also has cutter, 2 Seam, Curve, Slider. Huge potential & like all the big young arms, command will be a focus. Keep checkin’ in on him!
Jake Gelof hit his 1st HR & it was a bomb to dead center. 433 very happy feet, & moved his average to .318, OPS 1.005. Great hitter 1st, who can hit absolute tanks. Hey Joe Vetrano, you’re on the clock, 434 gets braggin’ rights.
Good look at Callum Wallace, 20 year old out of Brisbane, QLD, AUS. Good cut, frisbee characteristics to slider, & can also add depth for swing & miss, side slot, hides the ball well. 2 IP 3 H 2 Ks 0 BB.
Glad to have Christian Reubeck on the good side for once. Got to see him shove against my OSU Cowboys when he was at OU, then KState. Been to Denison many times, where he’s from, good folks come from that part of the world. Live FB that can beat hitters. 2 IP 0 R.
