Dodgers Daily Saturday 8-13-22

Rehab work in OKC, Stone hit 98, Vargas hit his 3rd grand slam, Alleyne had a big night and Rosario dominated. There were a lot of great moments down on the farm, and we’ve got all the highlights covered.

AAA OKC Dodgers

It’s been a frustrating week for OKC as they have lost 6 in a row and 7 of their last 8, and there’s no good reason as to why. Last night the AAA affiliates dropped another decision to the Round Rock Express, the AAA affiliates of the Rangers, 7-3 in downtown OKC at the Bricktown Ballpark in front of 7044 fans.

Watch Jackson Deal

Andre Jackson had a big-time changeup working & you can see it in the video by clicking the picture. Since going back to the complex for 4 days to get some things worked out, he has returned to form and, since his return, has given up just 7 runs in 21 innings and has 34 K’s to just 13 walks.

Watch Avans extend his streak to 48 games

Drew Avans extended his on-base streak to 48 games w/ triple #10, which, as pxp voice of OKC, Alex Freedman, says in the video, ties an OKC record during the Bricktown era. He’s extended his streak w/ triples in back-to-back games. A few weeks ago, he extended it with bunt hits in back-to-back games.

Watch every pitch of Graterol’s outing

Here is every pitch of Brusdar Graterol’s scoreless inning. His 4 seam reached 100.6, his sinker hit 100.8, and his cutter hit 97.

Watch every pitch of Robles’s outing

Here is every pitch of Hansel Robles’s scoreless inning. The change-up was his best pitch last night and it reached as high as 90. His 4 seam hit 97.9 and his sinker hit 97.3.

AA Tulsa Drillers

Tulsa gave up 2 in the top of the 1st and never caught up to the Midland Rockhounds, the AA affiliates of the A’s, and lost 8-2 at beautiful OneOk field in Downtown Tulsa in front of 6366 fans.

Watch Stone hit 98

Gavin Stone gave up his first home run of 2022 in 93.1 innings, & he responded by throwing a slider, a 97 mph fastball, & then a 98 mph fastball. He finished the inning with another 98 mph fastball, 2 changeups, & a slider for a K to end the inning. This dude is special!

Watch Valera get 2 hits

Leonel Valera had 2 hits and was on base 3 times last night for the Drillers. Valera is hitting .293 since his promotion to Tulsa with an OPS of .814.

Watch Yurchak get 2 hits

Justin Yurchak had a 2 hit night again which is his 10th multi-hit game since the beginning of July. He’s hitting .355 this month with an OPS of 1.265.

Watch Varland hit 98

I’ve seen Gus Varland pitch a lot, and he’s never looked better than he did last night. Watch the breaking ball for the 1st K, the 97 at the bottom, the 98 riding the top, the tight slider on the outside corner, & the confidence.

Watch the big stuff of Tanner Dodson

I love stories of hard work and perseverance! Tanner Dodson was brought over in the Luke Raley trade and has big stuff, and MLB potential, but struggled earlier this year and has been at the complex since late June. Last night was his return to Tulsa & it was a good one.

High A Great Lakes

The fans packed into Dow Diamond on Friday evening and they were not disappointed as the Loons scored 11 runs on 9 hits and beat the Peoria Chiefs, the High A affiliates of the Cardinals, 11-9 in front of 5407 fans.

Watch Vargas hit his 3rd grand slam

Imanol Vargas hit his 3rd grand slam of 2022 to give the Loons a 6-0 lead. Vargas is hitting .280 and is 1st in the Midwest League in on-base % (.430) 3rd in the league in OPS (.920) 9th in avg., 10th in homers (15), and 11th in RBIs (53) He has been a machine!

Watch Cartaya hit home run #16

Diego Cartaya hit home run #16 to put Great Lakes up 8-5. It traveled 440 very happy feet!

Watch Diaz get 3 hits

Recently promoted, Luis Diaz, had 3 hits for Loons, including his 3rd home run. Watch the wheels on Diaz, he can really run!

Single A Rancho Cucamonga

Rancho scored 5 times in the 5th inning and held on after giving up 3 in the bottom of the 9th to beat Lake Elsinore, the single A affiliates of the Padres, 6-5 Friday night.

Watch Rosario dominate

Jerming Rosario was absolutely dealing for Rancho. The 20-year-old right-hander out of the DR went 5 innings, struck out 6, and walked just 2 en route to a scoreless performance. This was his 3rd scoreless performance in a row.

Watch Froemke get 2 hits

Kyle Froemke had 2 hits last night for the Quakes. Froemke is hitting .375 so far this month with an OPS of .944. He is a 23-year-old infielder that grew up in Texas and played his college ball at Oregon.

Watch Alleyne get 2 hits

2022 Draft pick, Chris Alleyne had 2 hits, including a triple, and 2 RBIs for the Quakes. Alleyne is a Philadelphia native who hit .331 with 16 doubles and 24 home runs during his last year at Maryland. His OPS his 5th year at Maryland was 1.095.
