Dodgers Daily: Sunday 9-4-22

The OKC game went down to the wire again, so did the Tulsa game, the Loons were swimming, and the Quakes were playing catch up all night. There was a lot of great action on the farm yesterday and we’ve got it covered.

AAA OKC Dodgers

OKC scored 2 runs in the 10th on an RBI base hit from James Outman, but gave up 2 in the bottom half of the frame, then lost in the 11th to the Round Rock Express, the AAA affiliates of the Rangers, 8-7 at Dell Diamond Saturday evening in Round Rock, Texas.

RHP, Jon Duplantier. turned in another great outing. Duplantier threw 5 scoreless innings and had 4 Ks and gave up just 1 hit. In his last 3 starts, he has given up just 1 run in 14 innings and has 18 Ks. Well done Jon, keep up the great work!

Watch Rios hit home run #5

Edwin Rios hit home run #5 with OKC and it was hit 105.8 off the bat and traveled 409 very happy feet. Rios had another double in the top of the 10th and is hitting .245 with OKC with an OPS of .778.

Watch Kahnle in Action

Tommy Kahnle gave up a run on a home run ball but was good otherwise. He threw 2 4 seam fastballs that were 94 and 95, and 9 changeups that were 88-90.

Watch Duffy in Action

Danny Duffy threw a scoreless inning for OKC & had 1 K & gave up 1 hit. This was his 2nd outing with OKC & he also had one with Rancho & he hasn’t given up a run in any of them. He threw 12 4-seam fastballs that were 90-92, 2 sliders that were 81 & 83, & 1 sinker at 92.

Watch Rios and Outman give OKC the lead

The OKC game went extra innings and Edwin Rios hit a double, then James Outman delivered a 2 RBI single to give OKC a 6-4 lead. Rios had 2 hits last night and Outman is 14 for his last 28 with 3 home runs, 3 triples, 15 RBIs, 9 runs scored, and 34 total bases.

Watch Amaya in have a big night

Jacob Amaya had a huge game offensively for OKC in a game they had in the bag but didn’t shut the door in extras. Amaya went 3 for 5 to extend his hit streak to 7 games, a period where he’s 10 for 26 with 2 home runs, a triple, 2 doubles, 11 runs scored & 21 total bases.

AA Tulsa Drillers

The Drillers took a 5-run lead into the 6th inning before giving up a 3 spot in the top of the 7th which proved to be too much to overcome and dropped another tough one, 8-6, Saturday night at beautiful OneOk in downtown Tulsa in front of 5667 fans.

Watch Valera have a big game

Leonel Valera had another big night for Tulsa with 2 hits and 2 runs scored. Valera has muti-hit games in 4 of his last 6 and he is 10 for his last 22 with 2 home runs, a triple, 9 runs scored, and 18 total bases.

Watch Ward have a big game

Ryan Ward had a big night for the Drillers with 2 hits and 3 RBIs, and he scored a run. Ward is hitting .260 with an OPS of .828 and has 27 home runs on the year.

Watch Hernandez in Action

Jose Hernandez hit 99 with his fastball, then threw 3 consecutive 98s, then finished the inning by dropping a hammer. Impressive Stuff! He hasn’t allowed a run in his last 3 outings, 8 out of his last 9, & 12 out of his last 14. He had 21 Ks to just 4 walks in August.

High A Great Lakes

The Loons got rained out Saturday night and will be playing a doubleheader today starting at 12:05 Eastern.

Single A Rancho Cucamonga

Rancho gave up 4 runs in the bottom of the first inning and was playing catch-up all night, a game that proved to be too much, and lost 8-4 to Inland Empire, the Single-A affiliates of the Angels.

Watch Fernandez have a big game

Yeiner Fernandez got the scoring started for Rancho with a 2 RBI base hit. Fernandez is hitting .295 with an OPS of .824 for the Quakes and has hits in 6 of his last 7 games and 16 of his last 18. He hit .342 in August with an OPS of 1.018.

2022 Draft Pick, Kyle Froemke, had an RBI base hit for the Quakes and he has hits in 3 games in a row coming off of a good month of August where he hit .279 with an OPS of .775.

 

Watch Alleyne get 2 hits

2022 Draft Pick, Bubba Alleyne had 2 hits for the Quakes including his 6th double since joining the club. Alleyne has multi-hit games in 2 of the 3 he’s played this month and is hitting .333 so far in September with an OPS of .802.

Watch Young have a big day

2022 Draft Pick, Taylor Young had another 2 hits last night for Rancho which is his 2nd 2 hit game in a row and 4th in his last 7 games. He is 11 for his last 25 (.440) with 2 home runs, a double, 3 RBIs, 8 runs scored, and 18 total bases.

Watch 2022 Draft Pick, Alex Freeland

Here’s a look at 2022 Draft Pick, Alex Freeland. Freeland is a switch-hitting 21-year-old that was drafted out of the Univ. of Central Florida where he hit .282 in 2022 with the Knights. His slug % was .704, & his on-base % was .419, is OPS 1.122 which is very good.

Here’s a look at 23-year-old out of Mexica, Yamil Castillo. Castillo threw 2 scoreless innings for Rancho and had 4 Ks, just 1 walk, and gave up just 1 hit. The breaking ball was on point!

Watch Bautista in action

Check out the slider from Kelvin Bautista!. Bautista is super talented & very effective when throwing strikes. I.E. His avg. against in Aug. was just .171 but his ERA was 4.91, & in 7 of his last 8 outings where he did not have a walk, he also did not give up a run.
