Dodgers Daily Friday 9-9-22

Walkoff Walks, Grand Slams, Squeeze bunts, clutch pitching, and more. There was a lot of great action on the farm last night and we’ve got it covered.

AAA OKC Dodgers

OKC scored their first run on a squeeze play by Drew Avans, then scored their last run on a walk-off walk from Ryan Noda and got a much-needed win 5-4 Thursday night at the Bricktown ballpark against the Tacoma Rainiers, the AAA affiliates of the Mariners, in front of 4048 fans.

Watch Avans squeeze in a run

This is super cool, IMO! Drew Avans squeezed in the 1st run for OKC. I love manufacturing the first run, because, many times, it’s the hardest to score and to open a can, you first have to get the lid off! Avans is a helluva player, and, honestly, kind of a throwback!

Watch Feduccia get 2 hits

Hunter Feduccia had 3 hits in the big OKC 5-4 win. Feduccia has hits in 3 games in a row and is hitting .357 with an OPS of .829 so far this month. Keep up the Great Work Hunter!

Watch Gonzalez in Action

Victor Gonzalez gave up a run for just the 2nd time with OKC in his 7 rehab outings. His 2-seam sinker was 92-93, his slider was 82-84 and he threw 1 changeup at 82.

Watch Robertson throw up a 0

Nick Robertson threw for the 2nd day in a row, and, for the 2nd outing in a row, didn’t give up a run. Robertson was 92 on the 4-seam, 84-86 on the changeup, 84 on the slider, and threw 1 cutter at 86.

Watch Hagenman in Action

Justin Hagenman came up clutch for OKC stranding an inherited runner & keeping the game tied which OKC eventually won. Hagenman threw mainly sinkers at 93-94 and threw 6 sliders that were 82-83. His ERA in August was 1.86 & he has yet to give up a run this month.

Watch Washington get the W!

Mark Washington got the call in the top of 10 & stranded the ghost runner, then, OKC scored in the bottom half giving him the win. Washington was 95-96 on his 4-seam, & 86-87 on his cutter. His ERA on the year is 2.82 & he hasn’t allowed a run in his last 4 outings.

AA Tulsa Drillers

The Drillers took a 2-0 lead in the 3rd on a Leonel Valera home run, but only scored one more time the rest of the night and lost 4-3 to Frisco, the AA Affiliates of the Rangers 4-3.

Watch Valera hit home run #16

Leonel Valera hit home run #16 of 2022 and it traveled 402 very happy feet. Valera is 8 for 22 (.366) so far this month with 2 home runs, a triple, 9 runs scored, and 16 total bases.

Watch Dodson throw a scoreless inning

Tanner Dodson turned in his 7th scoreless performance in a row and has given up just 1 run since the beginning of August.

Watch how Cantleberry hides the ball

Jacob Cantleberry turned in his 3rd scoreless outing in a row, and 8th out of his last 10 outings. Here’s a look at one of the reasons why he is so effective. Watch how long he hides the ball from the hitter. His slider is very effective behind that kind of deception.

Watch Pages hit double #24

Andy Pages hit his 24th double of 2022 and it pulled the Drillers within 1 at 4-3. Pages led the Minor Leagues in the Dodgers system last year with 31 home runs so he has a world of power.

High A Great Lakes

Luis Diaz hit a grand slam in the 6th to give the Loons a 5-4, but the Whitecaps responded in the bottom half of the frame with 3 runs of their own and beat the Loons in a squeaker 7-6.

Watch Diaz hit a grand slam

Luis Diaz hit a grand slam to give the Loons the lead 5-4. For Diaz, it is home run #17 of the year.

Watch Leonard hit double #31

Eddys Leonard had 2 triples on Wednesday and hit his team-leading 31st double of the season last night. Leonard has hits in 4 games in a row, 8 of his last 9, and his OPS this month is .999 to pair with a .273 average so far in September.

Single A Rancho Cucamonga Quakes

Rancho scored 3 in the 5th and 1 in the bottom of the ninth and that was all the scoring the Quakes did as they dropped a 12-4 decision to the Lake Elsinore Storm, the Single-A affiliates of the Padres, at Loan Mart Field in front of 1398 fans.

Watch Doncon hit home run #3
